Important new advice has been issued by British Equestrian’s Equine Infectious Disease Advisory Group to help reduce the risk of disease spread at equestrian events.
The booklet was developed partly in response to the EHV-1 outbreak in Spain earlier this year, which demonstrated how quickly disease can spread at an event. It also showed how devastating the consequences of such outbreaks can be, with 18 horses confirmed to have died in that case.
The comprehensive booklet shares practical advice on reducing the risk of disease arriving or spreading at events. It also provides an invaluable summary of equine infectious diseases, from strangles and flu, to West Nile Fever and African Horse Sickness.
