DEFRA has been working with stakeholders to carry out a “light touch review” of the guidance notes that accompany animal licensing rules. As of 1st February 2022, this has introduced changes to the statutory guidance for local authorities in view of the Animal Activity Licensing Regulations 2018.
In reality, the main change has been a re-write to improve clarity (better English and an easier to understand layout for each Regulation) – on the whole, a positive. The rest of the changes are not huge and are mainly in relation to the training and competence of the Licensee and Staff.
The ABRS+ have devised a document outlining these changes: ABRS+ Briefing of Council Licensing Regulation Update 1 Feb 22
