As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, and at all times, the ABRS+ fully supports and promotes equestrian-based initiatives such as Riders Minds and Employers Minds, and encourage anyone struggling with mental health issues to seek the support and advice available to them.
Riders Minds is an online bespoke resource dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of all horse riders and drivers, Employers Minds is a part of the Equestrian Employers Association and is dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of equestrian employers. It’s also there to help EEA members similarly support their employees too.
Whether you are simply a leisure rider facing the stresses of daily life, a competitor at any level suffering from anxiety or pressure to perform, or the owner of an equestrian establishment facing difficulties from the demands of business, or in supporting the mental wellbeing of your employees or clients, being honest with yourself and recognising you need some support or would like some help, is a huge and courageous step forward. However knowing where to go to get the support you need, can be another challenge.
For equestrian employers, mental health is a subject which many people are still not keen to, or feel unable to talk about. With an increasing number of employers contacting the EEA for help, for themselves and how to help their employees, it is clear that this is a real issue. Being happy, content and confident in the workplace is vital to your well-being and efficient team working. It’s vital to performance, productivity and the success of your business too. As part of their membership, all ABRS+ members have inclusive membership of the Equestrian Employers Association, including their Employers Minds resources.
Riders Minds offer various resources and tools to help support mental health, including their Mental Health Checker and their Self Help Zone. As well as this, they have the Riders Minds support line. A 24 hours, 7 days a week service, means that you are never alone and there is always a trained helper ready to talk to you. It offers callers confidential help on a range of mental health and well-being issues.
