As President I am delighted to join the Chairman and Trustees of the Association in supporting you, our members, especially in these very challenging times. As a previous co-proprietor of one of our approved riding schools and now running a livery yard, I fully understand the difficulties and challenges you are facing.
The latest lockdown inevitably challenges us more than ever before and the current situation is such that we are bound to become disheartened at times. That is why I believe maintaining close communication with the ABRS and its membership network is of greater importance. Sharing the issues we face with others who are immersed in the industry and have their own stories to share can be hugely comforting, which is why I hope you will wish to continue to involve yourselves in the ABRS community.
I have now been associated with the ABRS over many years and I am especially proud of the various ways in which it is developing and widening its remit. This is vital if the organisation is to have a stronger voice throughout the industry and exert greater influence where needed. The approach of the Association when I joined the Board many years ago very much remains today which is to place its members at the heart of all that it does, providing them with support and advice which is delivered in a down to earth, non-judgmental way.
A great horseman who was a dear friend of my family’s once commented, “Whatever obstacles are put in our way, let’s make sure we keep straight down our centre lines and go forward with impulsion at all times”. This symbolic message is perhaps especially appropriate now as we steer our way through this latest lockdown. I send my very best wishes to you all.
Julian Marczak
President
