Apprenticeship Scheme Contract Signing
The ABRS signed contracts with the Institute of Swimming to deliver Apprenticeships in the Equestrian Industry.  We are confident this will be the start of a successful partnership that will benefit all our members.

We are now past the half way stage in the sign up of our first fifty apprentices with your Head of Development Dave Pettifor covering 1800 miles visiting schools from Bradford in the North to Redruth in the south of Cornwall.

The reaction from schools signing up to the scheme has been very good, most saying "they have been waiting for this type of course for some time". The course is designed to produce the young coaches of tomorrow with a much more rounded view of equestrian sport. During the course they will begin to not only look at the instructional side but also fittening of horse and rider, Nutrition, Pre-habilitation and a more effective way of communicating with riders. Some of the apprentices have acted as guinea pigs on UKCC courses and are genuinely excited about the idea of taking the level 2 which is the technical element of the apprenticeship.

Other important aspects of the course are around Customer Care and Equity, key considerations when planning for the modern equestrian business.
Proprietors have also expressed their surprise at the various levels of remuneration available that reflect the fact that it is they that provide the majority of the training.
Although we are only running an initial scheme for fifty apprentices this year and most of the places have been allocated there may be the odd gap in certain areas. So if you think this is for you just ring Dave on 07970 692272 for further information.

If you are at the AGM at Newmarket Dave will be there to speak on the subject and also available Sunday and Monday for informal chats.
